After implementation is completed, BPC will be supporting the Bank in the certification of its direct interface to Visa and MasterCard.
&quot;The new in-house processing center will allow Unibank to dramatically grow its issuing and acquiring business whilst offering more attractive terms to our customers and improve the quality of services. With SmartVista, a modern fully functional processing solution at the core of our payments business we will be able to carry out joint projects with manufacturers and trade networks. We have already reached preliminary agreements with a number of well-known companies for launching a loyalty program; the first in country,&quot; said Retail Business Director, Unibank&#8217;s Deputy CEO Mesrop Hakobyan.
&#8220;We are pleased that one of the largest and fast-growing banks of Armenia has chosen the SmartVista Suite - further strengthening BPC&#8217;s position in the CIS market. With a fully-functional processing center Unibank will have an opportunity to dynamically develop its card and e-payment business, to provide its customers with a wider choice of retail financial services and retain its leading position in the Armenian card market,&#8221; said Vasily Grigoriev, CEO, BPC Banking Technologies
&#160;

<title>MasterCard Technology Revolution</title>
<link>http://bpcbt.com/news/press_releases/archives/26/279/</link>
<description></description>
<yandex:full-text>January 17, 2003
By the end of 2005, MasterCard's authorisation and clearing and settlement solutions will undergo a major technology revolution aimed at converging the existing MasterCard and Europay systems on a unified technology platform. This includes MasterCard's BankNet, MDS and GCMS, and Europay's EPS-Net and ECCSS. In addition to that, a cardinal restructuring is planned in the way Processing Centres interact with the Payment Scheme&#160;&#8212; see Figures 1 and 2 below.

Figure 1.

Figure 2.
Migration to the new technology will span the years 2003 to 2005, in the following sequence of phases:

2003&#160;&#8212; 2004: communication system migration  (X.25 to TCP/IP)
2004&#160;&#8212; Q1 2005: authorisation system migration  (EPS-Net to RSC)
Q2 2004&#160;&#8212; Q4 2005: clearing and settlement scheme migration (ECCF to IPM)

Migration procedures will be similar to those applied for Processing Centre certification. In Q3 2003, Member Banks will have to complete special questionnaires (Q3 2003) detailing the chosen migration strategy and requesting the certification procedures.
BPC is currently working on updates to its SmartVista software to make sure that all new and existing SmartVista customers get them in time to meet MasterCard's migration requirements.</yandex:full-text>
