BIMBANK deploys BPC's advanced SmartVista Enterprise Fraud Management solution to become Mauritania's leader in real-time fraud protection

BIMBANK, Mauritania's leading Islamic bank and one of the pioneers in digital banking, has chosen the advanced SmartVista Fraud Management solution from BPC, a global leader in payment solutions, to implement enterprise-wide fraud prevention, fully comply with the requirements of the Central Bank of Mauritania, and ensure real-time protection across its cards, core banking, and digital channels.

Over the past two years, as part of a program to improve payment security at the national level, the Central Bank of Mauritania has tightened anti-fraud regulations, mandating real-time monitoring, automated alerts, and detailed reporting across all payment channels. At the same time, the increase in the volume of electronic payments has attracted modern fraudsters who, if undetected, could have caused significant losses for banks.

BIMBANK viewed a modern, scalable fraud-management solution as an essential step to preserve trust in its services. Driven by the goal to become the country’s most trusted financial institution, BIMBANK sought a future-proven platform that could replace an ageing fraud system, satisfy tighter regulatory check-lists and scale with rising transaction volumes.

BPC SmartVista delivered that vision, enhancing BIMBANK protection of channels through provision of advanced fraud management functionality. The two phased project included linking the bank’s card switch and core-banking engine first, followed by connection of the digital banking modules, giving fraud analysts a single view of risk and a dynamic rules engine that blends real-time and near-real-time monitoring. The solution features adaptive rule scoring, instant notifications (SMS,email/push alerts), and an advanced case-management suite, all hosted on-premise to meet local data-sovereignty rules. All connected through the flexible integration capabilities of SmartVista that bridges third-party services and in-house modules to the enterprise fraud management solution.

Since launch, leveraging SmartVista Fraud Enterprise Management solution, the bank has intercepted all potentially fraudulent transactions through all channels, giving BIMBANK, for the first time, powerful tools to prevent fraud and gain actionable insights into complex patterns for the future fraud and risk management strategy. BPC and BIMBANK fine-tuning of detection logic will continue, while adding machine-learning scoring and expanded reporting to strengthen preventive controls even further.
