GCash taps BPC’s next-generation SmartVista to launch GCash PocketPay, fuels PH’s cash-to-digital leap
GCash, the leading finance super app and largest cashless ecosystem in the Philippines, partnered with BPC, a global leader in payment solutions, offering modern payment acceptance to its merchants. Powered by BPC’s next-generation SmartVista platform, which brings card-present GCash PocketPay into the GCash for Business ecosystem, opening low-cost, secure modern acceptance for over 6 million Filipino businesses, merchants, and social sellers already using the app.
Leveraging BPC’s technology, GCash PocketPay can now turn any NFC-enabled compatible Android device into an acceptance point, removing hardware barriers for MSMEs and accelerating cash-to-digital migration nationwide. This introduction expands card and contactless acceptance at street-level, fuelling the next leap in everyday commerce across the Philippines.
As the Philippines moves toward a digital and cash-lite economy, with widespread super-app adoption, internet access reaching over two-thirds of the population, and MSMEs across the country rapidly adopting digital tools, GCash for Business set out to expand acceptance and payment choices for merchants of all sizes. The company selected BPC for its ability to meet the time-to-market plan, deliver a flexible, modular acquiring stack, and support a phased rollout aligned to all GCash milestones.
“We always work to provide meaningful digital finance solutions that empower people, organizations, and the nation,” said Jong Layug, G-Xchange, Inc. General Manager of GCash for Business. “With BPC’s SmartVista acquiring platform, we can stand up to our promise and provide modern payment acceptance. This product democratizes access to digital payment portals, which can often be intimidating for MSMEs.”
“Thanks to the partnership, GCash for Business now supports contactless Visa and Mastercard acceptance via GCash PocketPay on Android devices. SmartVista acquiring platform also set to support GCash closed-loop QR and QRPH, unifying card and QR payments across channels,” the GCash official added.
BPC delivered an end-to-end next-generation payments platform. The technology is engineered for rapid certification with international schemes and seamless integration via open APIs. The modular architecture lets GCash introduce new capabilities on demand while maintaining a single operational view across channels and all payment types.
With GCash for Business Portal, merchants have simple and easy-to-use payments tracker and management system. It has no wallet limit when receiving cashless payments and no transaction fee for supplier payments.
“We’re proud to power GCash for Business acquiring journey and to help in driving digitalisation through Filipino communities,” said Pallav Malik, BPC Account Manager for GCash. “I would like to commend collaboration between BPC and GCash that allowed this project to go live in record short time. Thanks to SmartVista’s modular cloud-ready design and open APIs that give super-apps like GCash the speed to launch new services, the flexibility to innovate, and the resilience to scale acquisition across all its merchant network.”
